Nadešel čas prázdnin, a tak je na čase oprášit nejzákladnější české fráze na dovolenou. Rodilého Čecha z vás sice tenhle článek neudělá, ale mohl by se vám hodit.

Doprava

V anglicky mluvících zemích se pro podzemku uchytil výraz metro - takže nemusíte používat výrazy typu subway, underground train - stačí se zeptat, kde je metro.

Nakupování

Potřebujete do drogerie třeba právě pro ten krém na opalování? Tak pozor - v Anglii se drogerii říká Chemist, v Americe zase drugstore - koupíte tam nejen drogerii, ale třeba i volně dostupné léky.

Pavement a sidewalk jsou dvě stejně věci - chodník. A který výraz se používá v Anglii? Anglii a Ameriku v jazykovědě, krom jiných, odlišuje ještě jedna věc - výrazy pro hranolky.
